Communication & Information

Through its mandate, UNESCO promotes communication, information and knowledge as driving forces of development and freedom of expression and media as basic human rights.

Secured access to online and offline information empowers communities and gives a voice to the most vulnerable. Simultaneously, the Organization strives to foster independent and pluralistic media by providing direct support and encouraging governments to honor this principle.
