World Radio Day 2015

The Jamaica National Commission for UNESCO celebrated World Radio Day in Accompong, Maroon Town, St. Elizabeth.

JNC-UNESCO hosted a seminar to provide information to youths in the community on how to operate a community radio station as Accompong Town had recently received IPDC funding for a community radio station.

Basic School, high school, tertiary level and young people from the community participated and were assisted by Patrick Prendergast, and Alistair McLaren of CARIMAC, University of the West Indies.

  • The importance of Radio
  • Programming and programme content
  • Technical aspects of operating a Radio station
  • How to empower and advance the work of the community
