9th Annual UN Global Student Video Conference
9th Annual UN Global Student Video Conference was held on the theme “Remember Slavery: Recognising the Legacy and Contributions of People of African Descent”. This included a Video Presentation on The Ark of Return, The Permanent Memorial to Honour the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade, a Presentation by Dr. Richard Benjamin, Head, International Slavery Museum, Liverpool, United Kingdom as well as the Students’ presentation/performance. Jamaica was represented by UNESCO Clubs from Holy Trinity High School and the Young Women’s Cristian Association. They were asked to give an oral presentation on a Black achiever from outside the Caribbean. That presentation was on Benedita Da Silva from Brazil as was the dub poem performed by the group of students.
