Handing over of Edward Seaga Collection

The University of the West Indies (UWI) paid tribute to former Prime Minister and Leader of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Edward Seaga, at a function in the Council Room at Mona, marking the handing over of his collection (9 Mar).

The collection includes books, documents and artifacts saved by Seaga in over 60 years of public life, and Is the only surviving member of the team that drafted the Jamaican Constitution in 1962. He is credited with building the financial and planning infrastructure of the country after independence, as well as developing its arts and crafts, and awareness of national heritage. As a record producer and record company owner, Seaga also played a major role in the development of the Jamaican music industry.
