MAB Youth Forum, 2019

The 2019 MAB Youth Forum, hosted in Changbasian China, brought together over 70 participants from around the world and almost 200 Chinese nationals. Jamaica was represented by Laura Chin.

With the theme “committed to biodiversity” participants were challenged to find ways in which their Biosphere Reserve could be positioned to strengthen global conservation efforts and stymie climate change. Participants also met with their respective regional BiosphereNetworks to discuss how best to facilitate knowledge sharing. The Forum gave the youths a voice as all their ideas and concerns were drafted in a mandate to be heard at the CBD and COP20. The generous forum organizers also gave the participants the opportunity to visit China’s first Biosphere Reserve, the Changbasian Mountain Biosphere Reserve .
