Project Overview
By using augmented reality coupled with geographical information system technologies, this project aims to raise awareness on the potential of geology, geological processes (active and past) and geoheritage to foster sustainable development and disaster preparedness. At the same time the project will provide an inventory of important geosites that should be protected and used as geoscience education tool.
Along with Dr. Sherene James-Williamson as Principal Investigator, the interdisciplinary project team includes local and International researchers: Professor Simon Mitchell (Department of Geography and Geology) and Dr Ashley Hamilton-Taylor (Department of Computing) from The UWI Mona, Dr Earl Edward's from The UWI St. Augustine, Dr Lesley-Gayle Atkinson, Edna Manley School for the Visual and Performing Arts, Dr. Katherine Ellins, University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Kim Whitehall, Cloudyness, Dr. Benjamin van Wyk de Vries, Université Clermont Auvergne, France and Dr. Catalina Gonzalez Tejada, Colombia Geological Survey as project team members. The Faculty extends congratulation to Dr. Williamson and team.
