This is a joint project being conducted by the Institute of Gender and Development (IGDS), Regional Coordination Office and the Bureau of Gender Affairs (BGA). Building on previous work by both organizations in the areas of masculinities and crime and gender based violence, the study seekd to examine how various expressions of masculinity impact various forms/models of fatherhood and fathering in Jamaica. Further, the study aims to assess how these positive models can be leveraged towards strengthening Jamaican families and communities. By targeting specifically men and boys, the study thus seeks to promote the role of fathers as agents of social change towards reducing gender based violence, and facilitating social cohesion and gender equality.
