Continuation of Build Resilience of Caribbean SIDS to Disasters and Climate Change

The project continued with two more activities:

  1. SAFETY WARDEN/MONITOR TRAINING seminars to build capacity for the culture sector, It was held face to face on March 1, 3 and 8, 2022 at the  Institute of Jamaica’s Lecture Hall by the Jamaica Fire Brigade. About ninety individuals across the culture agencies were engaged in one day of lectures, learning to monitor the safety of their surroundings, and to take steps necessary to marshal staff and visitors to evacuate the building safely in the event of an emergency. The training consisted of  demonstrations, practice and role play. Upon completion and after a short assessment, each participant were to receive a certificate.
  2. Public Awareness Animation Campaign addressing the following areas:
  • The importance of Jamaican Cultural Heritage, for example sites, historic buildings, collections (archaeological, ethnographic, visual art, archival etc.), cultural traditions, practices and knowledge etc.
  • The promotion of key disaster and climate change threats
  • Encourage a change of behavior and attitude to preservation and protection of cultural heritage
  • Promote ways in which our cultural heritage can be protected
